Massage treatments for the body

Massage

In 2018 I had a wake-up call and felt warm energy in my hands drawing me to help people who are in pain.  Since then I complemented my training: I really enjoyed learning and practising various massage therapies, and gradually I have built up a repertoire of techniques.  I love practising my massage skills and learning new ways of giving relaxation and ease to people's bodies. 


Massage is a holistic approach to free the body from tension, allowing healthy energy flow,

 blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, resulting in ease and freedom of movement, and peace and calm of the mind.

Massage types - what to expect

Thai massage

Northern style called Nuad Bo'Rarn

 

  • The practice involves a combination of physical muscle manipulation, stretches, and applying pressure to energy points


  • Northern – Nuad-Bo-Rarn – style Thai Massage has a stronger Asian Indian influence, with a greater focus on elements of yoga and Ayurveda. Nuad means to touch with the intention of healing and Bo-Rarn is a Sanskrit word meaning something that is ancient and revered.


  • Physical manipulation and stretching are the focus for relieving tension; also there is an emphasis on the essentials of Chinese acupressure and energy pathways (Sen Lines) and opening up those channels.


  • Northern Style emulates the cultures and people of Northern Thailand – laid back and gentle. This personality is reflected in the Northern Style technique making for a wonderful way to relax and unwind after a hard day’s work.




 Swedish massage 


  • Swedish Massage is a wonderful way to relieve aches and pains. Gentle rolling and kneading massage techniques are used to warm up and relax muscles and to remove knots or tension. 


  • Choose from a range of luxury massage oils and enjoy your treatment lying on a comfortable massage couch covered with warm towels and relaxing to calming music.

 



Massage types - what to expect


Indian head massage


  •  Indian Head Massage is the perfect treatment for anyone looking to switch off, relax and drift away. It also has far-reaching health benefits, notably relieving chronic stress and other symptoms of depression. 
  • It involves the use of traditional strokes to release tension that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles, and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. During the massage, you can lie on a couch, draped in warm towels and listening to calming music.  

 


Specific benefits include:

* improved circulation and removal of toxins

* a deep sense of relaxation and feeling of total well-being

* relief from headaches, eye strain and migraines

* relaxation of the muscles of the head, neck and shoulder area

* stimulation of hair growth

* relief from anxiety, restlessness and insomnia

* sense of peace, tranquillity and harmony

What to expect before, during and after massage

 

Before

I will run through a few points with you before the treatment to make sure that it is safe to go ahead and to check whether any areas need particular attention or to be avoided. It is also your chance to ask any questions.


During

Indian head massage is usually conducted with the receiver seated, upper back and arms bared and a towel wrapped round the chest, but it can also be performed on a massage couch.  The techniques used include effleurage (soothing and stroking movements), petrissage (kneading and squeezing), tapotement (hacking ad tapping), friction (rubbing and ‘shampooing’), feathering (light finger pressure), stretching (of the neck), rotation (of the shoulder joint). I use a light oil suitable for the face. 

Some of the oil from my hands will get into your hair and it is best to leave it in for a few hours if you can to help condition the hair. The treatment takes 30 minutes, so is easier to fit into a busy schedule than some others.


Thai massage is performed fully dressed in comfortable lose clothing on a massage tatami or futon using bolsters and towels to prop up the body for maximum comfort and relaxation. It involves working on the energy lines from feet up, stretches and muscle manipulation 


Swedish massage is performed on a comfortable massage bed with luxury natural massage oils, covered with towels. 


 


After

As with any forms of massage, it is best to rest and relax after a massage to fully benefit from the effects. Drink plenty of water to help flush out any toxins that may have been released from the tissues. Eat lightly and healthily to reduce the strain on the body and promote healing, and avoid caffeine and alcohol for a few hours after.

You may feel rested and relaxed after a massage, or may feel invigorated and energized, depending the type of massage you chose.
